Emily Brown, Marketing & Operations Manager

Emily Brown has more than 20 years of experience in different industries including engineering, energy, education, and technology. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in both Marketing and Strategic Management. The focus of her career has been in marketing, data, and operations. As CFO and CMO of Sustainergy Solutions, Emily draws upon her life-long familiarity and decade of experience in the energy and environmental sectors to implement and manage business and marketing best practices. She understands what it takes to serve clients well and what principles and methodologies must be in place to do so.

The energy and environmental sectors have been part of Emily's life as long as she can recall. A family member spent nearly two decades of her career at municipal energy district. During college, she spent more than two years in market research for a utility district. As part of a consulting business, she helped write and procure a $3 million grant for Placer County’s PACE program (mPOWER). And, throughout the course of her career in the engineering industry, she led marketing efforts for numerous utility engineering and environmental projects.

More than 10 years of her career has been in marketing of AEC (architecture/engineering/construction) services. She worked with technical colleagues to create and produce clearly written documents, sharp presentations, comprehensive reports, and eye catching marketing collateral. Emily has led strategic pursuits, proposals, and grant requests as small as tens of thousands of dollars to as large as multi-million dollar efforts. These have included both the private and public sector, from small towns to federal contracts. In addition, she has managed teams as large as 20 people supporting more than 350 technical staff throughout California and across the country. Additional responsibilities have included: staff development and management; database administration; branding; client feedback processes; writing internal and external communications; business development; and budget development and management.

At her core, Emily has always had a taste for data and numbers, and she has focused on data analysis and budgeting in various parts of her career. She enjoys getting into the fundamental details, thoroughly researching, and analyzing data and qualitative information. She is also experienced at budget development, processes, and oversight.

When she's not working, she's usually exercising, hanging out with their two German Shepherds, gardening, doing home improvement projects, organizing something, or coaching and supporting small businesses, non-profits, and sometimes even politicians.
